Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The contribution must be original and unpublished, and it must not be under review for publication or already published by another journal.
  • The submission files must be in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx), provided they do not exceed 5 MB.
  • The text must strictly comply with the standards and requirements described in the Editorial Guidelines of this scientific journal. ATTENTION: a single error in structure, citations, or references is sufficient for the rejection of the manuscript.
  • Authorship identification must be removed from the file to ensure the anonymity required for double-blind peer review. All authors must be registered in the system with full name, email address, scientific institution, and a link to their Lattes CV or ORCID profile.

Author Guidelines

Editorial Workflow
Naturae employs a stringent editorial process to uphold the quality and relevance of its publications. Manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening (desk review) followed by a double-blind peer review, ensuring anonymity for both authors and reviewers. Upon completion, authors receive detailed feedback and may be asked to revise their submissions to improve clarity, structure, or scientific rigor. Comprehensive information about the review process is available in the journal’s “Peer Review Process” section.

Manuscript Preparation
To ensure uniformity across publications, authors must follow these formatting guidelines:

  • Arial font, size 12

  • 1.5 line spacing

  • Maximum of eight authors per article; if more contributors are involved, prior approval from the editorial board is required

Article Structure
All submissions must include:

  • Title, abstract, and keywords in Portuguese, English, and Spanish

  • Three to five keywords, avoiding duplication of terms used in the title

  • Abstracts of 150–250 words clearly outlining the study’s objective, methodology, and key findings, excluding citations, formulas, or excessive abbreviations

Multilingual Policy
Naturae promotes inclusive scholarly communication by accepting manuscripts in Portuguese, Spanish, and English. This policy encourages contributions from diverse academic and geographic backgrounds, broadening the journal’s international impact. The journal publishes two types of contributions: original scientific articles and scientific notes, each with specific formatting and citation requirements detailed in the official author and reviewer guidelines available on the journal’s website.

Submission Procedure
Submissions must be made through the journal’s online platform. Corresponding authors are required to register, creating a secure account to manage all communications.

The submission process includes the following steps:

  1. Select the manuscript language and confirm adherence to the journal’s formatting and ethical standards

  2. Agree to the platform’s terms of use and data policies

  3. Upload two files: an anonymized manuscript without author identifiers and a separate document containing full author information. This ensures the integrity of the double-blind review process

  4. Provide metadata including the title, abstract, and keywords in Portuguese, English, and Spanish

  5. Enter author details: full names, institutional emails, affiliations, and brief bios (up to 50 words)

  6. Review all submission information before finalizing

  7. Choose the most appropriate thematic area for the manuscript

  8. Complete the submission

To facilitate a smooth process, authors are encouraged to prepare all required documents and information beforehand.

Scientific Notes

The Scientific Notes section includes reports and case studies that do not fit the article section due to their simplified nature, but must contain at least the following structure: Standard Pre-Textual Elements, Introduction, Report, Discussions and/or Final Considerations, and References.
